January 23, 2021
Elizabeth Jean Datemasch (Betty) died on January 23rd at home with her family. She was born and raised in Oceanport NJ, where she lived most of her days with the love of her life and husband Alfred. She was a lifetime member of the Oceanport United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She worked many years and retired from the US Army at Fort Monmouth, and later for the Oceanport School system as a crossing guard. She was predeceased by her loving husband Alfred, her mother and father, Mildred and Thomas, her sister Barbara, and her grandson Ryan. She is survived by her grateful daughters and son in laws, Nancy Bell and Fred Bell of Toms River, Donna Perez and Rufino Perez of Brick, and Lisa Lowe and Greg Lowe of Jackson, her grandchildren Alicia, Ben, Dillon, Jaden, Cameron and a sweet great granddaughter Payton Elizabeth. We are so thankful for the special people who came into her life and gave her so much love and friendship until the end. Betty lived her life in a simple and selfless way. Her family was everything to her, and there was never a moment that we did not all know without a doubt that she loved us and would do anything in the world for us. She was the best living example of loyal loving wife, mother, grandmother, great -greatmother and mother in law. We were so blessed to have her with us for 86 years and we are so thankful she is now in Heaven, where she deserves to be. There will be a private ceremony for immediate family only. If anyone wishes to donate she would love St Jude’s Children’s Hospital to receive any gifts of love in her name.
