James VanBrummelen
March 27, 2020
James Van Brummelen, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on March 27, 2020 at home with his family. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his son James, his son Daniel and daughter-in-law Yan, his two grandchildren, Kaila, her husband Carlos, and Nolan, as well as many loving relatives and family friends. James was born in Weehawken, NJ on September 13, 1933 welcomed by his parents Pieter and Francisca Van Brummelen, and his brothers Peter and Larry. He served in the army before graduating from Pace University in 1959. He later obtained his CPA, and then his MBA from Monmouth University. James spent most of his career at Ciba-Geigy in Toms River. He was also very active at his church, Calvary Lighthouse in Lakewood, NJ, where he served as treasurer for over two decades. James will be remembered for his gentle and kind soul, his love for animals, especially dogs, and his inability to leave any job unfinished, no matter how big or small, or what the circumstance. Nancy was the love of his life, and he was a devoted husband for 53 years. He was also a dedicated father, never missing one of his son’s baseball games, even when Jim played in college two and a half hours away. He was most happy at home, working in his yard or spending time with his wife and family. He will be missed greatly, but is most certainly in a better place with no pain or sorrow, and will always be alive in our memories. Due to current world circumstances, funeral services will be private, but a memorial service and celebration of life gathering will be planned at a later date. The family has asked in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Deborah Heart & Lung Foundation or Calvary Lighthouse, both of which the links are provided below: https://www.deborahfoundation.org/donate https://www.calvarylighthouse.org/give/
