Ruth T McCarthy

Ruth T. McCarthy, of Toms River, passed away Wednesday, July 31 at home. Miss McCarthy was the daughter of John T. and Rachel M. (nee Duffy) McCarthy. Born in the Vailsburg section of Newark, she resided there until moving to Silver Ridge Park West in Toms River in 1986. Ruth was an employee for almost 40 years of the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company as Policy Typing/Transcription Department Supervisor. She was a member of T.S.A. (Transcription Supervisor’s Association). She was also a CGA (Certified Graphoanalyst). Ruth was a religious education teacher in the CCD program for 32 years. She was a member of the Rosary Altar Society of St. Maximillian Kolbe Church where she had also been a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and hospital and nursing home volunteer. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, James, John, Edward and Paul. Surviving are her sister in law, Evelyn McCarthy, her nieces, Patricia Horn, Maureen Ireland and Mary McCarthy. She is also survived by 2 grand nieces and 2 great grand nephews. Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 5 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at “The Family Owned” Carmona Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main St., Toms River. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 10:30am at St. Maximillian Kolbe Church, Toms River. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Toms River. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth, PO Box 476, Convent Station, NJ 07961-0476.
